So this is my brand new blog. I go to so many wrestling sights daily and listen to so many internet shows on a weekly basis and I'm constantly talking to my computer(yup)while listening giving my own opinions, so I thought why not? "The Hot Tag" is going to be my first weekly(hopefully) feature looking at all the hot topics in wrestling...so...lets get to it.....
The Raw GM is Alvin from Alvin and The Chipmunks?
So we finally get a look into the anonymous Raw General Manager....via auto tune apparently. The segment on The Cutting Edge was definitely entertaining. Although it left me with a lot more questions than answers. So here's who the Raw GM is NOT in my mind. Its NOT Stone Cold Steve Austin. Hes already started that he wouldn't want to bring back the SCSA character on a part time basis, and I'm not sure how well it would mesh with the PG Era. Its NOT The Rock. He is way too busy with acting and he wouldn't have time to work with WWE even part time. Its NOT Shawn Michaels. HBK has made it clear he is done with the business for the foreseeable future. Its NOT Jim Ross. Good Ol' J.R. can call a match but not be an authority figure. That being said wheres who I think are some viable possibilities. Michael Cole: The really obvious choice. Hes just e-mailing himself from his computer on the broadcast table. However he cant be a play by play guy AND the Raw GM and unless Jim Ross is coming back to the booth no one can replace Cole right now. Stephanie McMahon:This has been a popular theory. Stephanie has been off camera for a long time. However word on the street is that she is currently getting ready to give birth to her and Hunters 3rd daughter and would most likely have a little too much on her hands to have an on air role. HHH:Another that has been off tv for a while. There's no rule stating that the GM cant get in the ring and mix it up. HHH is 41 years old and would benefit from a lighter in ring schedule, but I feel its unlikely(baring a return to the McMahon-Helmsly era). Vince McMahon:It would be the worst pay off to an angle ever and I don't feel Vince would do that to the fans(although he has in the past, I just feel this angle has some legs to stand on and if he revealed its himself then it would collapse).
So who is the Raw GM? If none of the above then who? Bret Hart? Linda McMahon? Doink The Clown? The truth is none of us know, and I don't believe WWE even knows. I don't think they've found anyone yet..anyone of a major impact anyway. Could they be waiting for a big name to leave TNA? Are they waiting to make it the right celebrity(is David Arquettes phone ringing?) Truth be told I don't think anyone knows but I for one cant wait to find out.
The Miz and Daniel Bryan have the hottest feud in the WWE
That's a true statement. Although I am enjoying the Cena/Nexxus angle again, nothing can top Miz/Bryan right now. Theres so much back story to it, which is getting mentioned every week, and the emotion that these guys are showing is just flat out working. Love him or hate him(and judging from a lot of peoples comments its hate) The Miz is the best heel in WWE today. Alex Riley is a perfect complement to him. Hes along the lines of the same character cocky, brash, and unapologetic, but still green enough to take shit from the Miz. Bryan has done a tremendous job with this angle as well. The fans are really behind him and in such a short amount of time.
The addition of John Morrison is a little puzzling to me. I realize that the WWE is having 2 PPV's in a 2 week span and have no time to build on story's but it feels like Morrison was just literally throw into the mix. However all credit to them for it being Morrison, a man who has a history with the Miz and not someone like Evan Bourne, who wouldn't make any sense. Only 2 questions after Monday though: 1:Why not include Riley in the HIAC match? And why did they all stop fighting when the Raw GM tone went off???
Is Michael Cole A Heel Or Not?
I absolutely LOVE heel announcers. Bobby Heenan, Jesse Ventura, they all make the program entertaining. But they were color men, NOT play by play men. Its very hard to have a heel play by play guy. I'm not saying its never been done before, Ive just personally never seen one.
That being said they WWE needs to decide if their going full tilt with it or not. You cant have Cole rooting for The Miz and then John Cena half an hour later. Theres no continuity, it makes him look ridiculous, and I'm sure it confuses younger fans.
I think it would be a great thing to do. Cole gets legit heat every time he opens his mouth, let him be a full time heel. It could lead to some very interesting Raws.
Will John Cena Join Nexxus?
Yes? No? Maybe? Who knows. He needs to though. A heel Cena is drastically going to drop merchandise sales and Vince is a business man. However he doesn't need to be a heel. Cena loses and is forced into Nexxus and has that "babyface in a heel stable" gimmick, one that hasn't been done in a long time and would seem to be fresh to a lot of fans. I'm not a big Cena fan but would without a doubt tune in to see what Wade Barrett and Nexxus are making him do, or who their making him face.
If Cena wins then Nexxus is no more and it would be the worst ending to an angle ever. They have managed to keep interest in this story line for a long time. Even with guys involved in other matches they have intertwined them and have keep people coming back. If Nexxus is done, then where do they go from there. Besides Barret and Gabriel none of them are ready at the moment to have a solo run(not to say they wouldn't be down the line but just not now).
Ok that's all I have for now. I'm running short on time and I could go on forever. So I'll leave it at that for my first article here. I'll be back later in the week with some Hell In The Cell predictions and I'm working on articles about Matt Hardy, TNA, Woman's Wrestling and more!
If anyone reading this would like to be involved and do some articles drop me a line!
