Smackdown to SyFy: Imagine Greater.

The WWE is headed towards a new movement. That's not a fact that's just an opinion. The Raw Ratings have been dropping drastically. Merchandise sales are down and PPV buy rates are plummeting. So what better way then to kick off a new start then Smackdown moving to SyFy. On My Network TV Smackdown was only available to apx. 50-60% on the United States. SyFy is an international television channel. And they've gone all out in promoting Smackdown. So what does the WWE need to do to capitalize on what will be part new audience and to maintain their old audience?
The answer is exactly what they are doing. They are billing Smackdown's move as the biggest thing since Wrestlemania. Rey Mysterio will return to the ring to take on the man who put him out of action, Alberto Del Rio. Although I think it could wait until a PPV I understand them doing it Friday to make the event big. I do think that it'll lead to a match at Hell In A Cell. The only other match announced is CM Punk taking on The Undertaker in the main event. That's somewhat of a head scratcher to me. Punk and Taker haven't had an angle in a long time. Its obvious Kane will get involved but to what extent will remain to be seen. And finally John Cena and Nexxus have been announced. Although no official match has been named I think its pretty clear well get something. R-Truth has pledged his allegiance to the C-Nation and I'd look for guys like MVP, Kofi Kingston and maybe even The Big Show to hop on board.
WWE has a chance here to capitalize and right whats becoming a sinking ship. Kane makes a solid champion on Smackdown, and traditionally, babyfaces chasing the title draw better then heels chasing the title. So people will tune in to see Taker try and defeat his brother for SD's top prize. The mid carders are solid as well. Kofi, Dolph, MVP, Christan, Punk, Kaval, and others(some of whom have major main event potential) can really be a draw. And with the Divas champion(s) and tag team champions both on Smackdown it seems their throwing their horse on the Friday night carriage and hoping the ride is smooth.
When the draft happened months ago Smackdown got pillaged by Raw. Rumors had it that guys like Edge and Jericho were switched to Raw until Smackdown moved to SyFy. Jericho's future is up in the air right now but Edge would highly benefit from the move. As would a handful of other superstars. Guys who got a minor push and then over looked could hop on over to Smackdown and not be lost in the shuffle. Names like Even Bourne, Ted DiBiase, and John Morrison all come to mind.
Weather this can pull WWE out of the gutter, or continue to be another brick in the bag only time will tell. Either way I know I'm going to be glued to my tv Friday night for Smackdowns SyFy debut.
